Moonlit trees and pond near Arey Cove on East Schoodic Drive. The bright "star" to the left is Jupiter between the Gemini twins, Pollux and Castor. The star to the right of the trees is Capella, the third brightest star in our northern hemisphere (after Arcturus and Vega).

This is a blend of two exposures: a short one for the sky, and a long one for the ground and trees, with a 91% illuminated moon at my back. I tried a new method in Photoshop for masking the two layers by choosing the blue channel of the longer exposure and then selecting the highlights to better mask out the bright areas between the tree branches without also selecting the brighter tree trunks and rocks. With a little feathering and edge refinement it worked great!

Nikon D700, Nikon 24-70 f/2.8, and Promote Control @ 24mm, f/2.8, and two exposures: ISO 2500 and 20 seconds for the sky, and ISO 1600 and 4 minutes for the ground and trees.
