Moon at Sand Beach, Acadia National Park, Maine, July 19, 12:56 AM

Matthew Parks and I caught up with Aaron Rigsby at Acadia National Park while he was in Maine. I shot this 51.8% illuminated moon at Sand Beach with a 70-200mm f/2.8 telephoto and 2x teleconverter for an effective focal length of 400mm. I like shooting the moon when part of it is in darkness to get more definition in the craters and a better sense of the depth and height of them.

Nikon D700, 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II, TC-20E III 2x teleconverter, Really Right Stuff TVC-34L tripod, ballhead, and lens foot @ 400mm, f/11, ISO 200, 1/5 second exposure.
