Star trails over fishing shack
Vincent Lawrence of Acadia Images Photography Workshops and I shot this fishing shack by Otter Cove in Acadia National Park on the night of May 14, 2015, 10:22 PM to 12:03 AM, testing out some hardware and software for a night sky workshop later that week. The foreground is a 16 minute exposure, blended with almost an hour’s worth of star trails from 1 minute exposures, both taken with a Promote Control at 14mm, f/2.8, ISO 1600. The 59 sky photos were stacked with Advanced Stacker Plus in Photoshop using the “fat head” mode. Dark frame subtraction was done with PixelFixer to remove hot pixels, particularly on the long ground exposure.
Shot with a Nikon D700, Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8, Promote Control, & Really Right Stuff TVC-34L tripod.
